Costumes for Term 3 Dance Performance
I am sending this from my sick bed. We have been sharing the love in Nikau! I now feel sorry for all those poor little possums who have been struck down over the term. It feels bad!
The one guarantee with teaching is that time doesn't stop just because you are sick, so I am sending out a late email to you to let you know about developments re our dance programme.
As you know we have a marvellous dance opportunity coming up in Term 3. Every Tuesday the children will work with professional dancers to learn the craft, followed by a performance to showcase their learning at the end of the term.
This term you have been busy with your children learning about birds in flight and the remarkable little kuaka/godwit and their jouney across the globe. It is not over yet either, we have more research to do next week! This is important knowledge building for the integration of dance and the arts in general. We have been fair fizzing with it all. We will be representing te kuaka/ the godwit in our dance.
Now for the crux of this email (finally). On Monday at 3.30pm the staff and any interested parents are meeting with members of the NZ Dance team to tease out a plan for the costuming. We want to keep it very simple! That is the brief.
Because I have been ill we have not had the opportunity to talk to the children about their ideas but we will on Monday, as that is important. By that stage they should also have enough information to contribute some ideas.
We would love any of you who are creative in this way and would like to be involved to come along to share ideas. It should not be a big task, the more simple and effective we can keep it the better, so we would especially welcome support and ideas with this in mind.
By the way, there will be no poems for the next fortnight, the children will be too busy with their Brainwaves, thinking about their costuming for the Book Week parade next Friday and doing more essential godwit research. Just when you thought it was all getting under control!
Thank you so much for all your support. It gives meaning and depth to your child's learning and that is invaluable.
Look forward to seeing any willing creative parents on Monday after school. Reply if you have any queries, or confirmations:)
