Our greatest strength at Vauxhall are our dedicated and passionate teachers who tailor learning opportunities for our children:
Special programmes are in place where they are needed, including Reading Recovery, Rainbow Reading, Numricon and the Parent Reading Programmes. With a large percentage of able children at Vauxhall School our teaching and learning is open ended to enable remedial and extension programmes within all classes. Vauxhall School offers students the following opportunities: Regular learning experiences outside the school grounds (shows, visits to galleries, camps etc.), A strong commitment to the Arts, Gifted and Talented opportunities, Choir, Waterwise (Year 6), School Sports teams, Standardised testing, Kapa Haka, Sporting Events and External Exams.
Information and Communication Technology
We aim to prepare our students for the 21st Century by using technologies to enhance authentic learning. Wireless tablets and computers with intranet and internet capability are available to all teams through our secure school network. We introduced BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) capability in 2013.
Vauxhall School is committed to being an environmentally aware school. The Enviro Club is a volunteer group of children who work to steer the school towards Zero Waste through composting and maintenance of our organic gardens. The children sell the produce and feed the profits back into our gardens.
Parent involvement is a special aspect of Vauxhall Schools culture. We have an open door policy and welcome parents into the school environment. Parent help is encouraged and welcomed.
We are constantly maintaining and upgrading our facilities at Vauxhall. We presently have:
- A new computerised library and library resources
- A new Arts Centre/Hall
- Astro Turf Hockey Court
- A networked computer system
- A swimming pool
- A large adventure playground
- An attractive junior playground
- All weather playing field
