Enrolment Info

At Vauxhall School we aim to make the transition from home to school a seamless one. We hope that you will share the excitement of starting school by getting actively involved and visiting the classroom.

Vauxhall School welcomes new entrants at school for pre-school visits. The process starts gradually when you and your child visit weekly leading up to their starting date. Children get to meet others who are starting at the same time as them, their teachers and engage in some fun activities.

For the first two weeks of school, new 5 year old children will finish at 2pm this allows them to slowly adapt to the challenges school brings.

You can find out more about starting school at Vauxhall on this Welcome to Miro - Year 1 link.

All students who live within the home zone shall be entitled to enroll at the school. Proof of residence within the home zone will be required.

Each year, applications for enrolment in the following year from in-zone students will be sought by a date, which will be published in a daily, or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.  This will enable the Board to assess the number of places, which can be made available to students who live outside the home zone.

We accept out of zone enrolments at Vauxhall School and hold a ballot each term to ensure children can start throughout the year. Please contact the school office for more information about out of zone enrolments and complete our enrolment form here.

Each year and term the Board will determine the number of places, which are likely to be available in the following year and term for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone.  The Board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.  The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify dates by which all applications must be received.

Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority this priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
  • Second Priority  will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Fourth Priority will be given to applicants who are children of Board employees
  • Fifth Priority will be given to all other applicants.

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989.  Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot, by notice in a daily or community newspaper, circulating in the area served by the school.
