Welcome to Vauxhall School
'Building on the strengths of every child'
Our aim at Vauxhall School, alongside parents, is to foster kind, confident and creative children who love primary school and actively contribute to our community. Our teachers are passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated. We believe in meeting children's social, emotional and learning needs in ways that are appropriate for each child’s age and stage of development. We do this through a combination of up to date teaching practices including
- Age and ability appropriate, explicit teaching of the skills and knowledge needed in reading, writing and mathematics, including an established 'Structured Literacy' programme in reading, spelling and writing.
- Learning through play for our junior children and student-led inquiry for our senior children
To support our philosophy we are lucky enough to have flexible classroom spaces that have withdrawal rooms within the class for teachers to work with small groups.
Our teachers receive up to date and ongoing professional development to support the needs of the children in our ever evolving society today.
Feel free to come and visit us to see first hand our engaging and supportive classrooms, in our Devonport primary school. If you are new to Vauxhall School, I am happy to show you around and answer your questions. If you are an existing parent, you are welcome and encouraged to be part of the classroom as a parent helper.
